Apple Revamps Apple TV App with Netflix-Style Redesign

Apple launched a completely overhauled Apple TV app for iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV, redesigned interface borrows heavily from Netflix, simplifying navigation while better showcasing movies, shows, sports, and streaming channels.

Cornerstone of the refresh is a new “Home” tab aggregating entertainment options. Users can dive into individual streaming services or browse global selections of series, films, sports, and more. Trending charts, newly added content, and curated collections aim to aid discovery.

Tabbed format replaces cumbersome interim menus, new universal entry point emulates the simple elegance powering Netflix’s rise. One-tap views into leading services or Apple’s centralized catalogue finally give the app identity.

Tailored Personalization

Apple TV app redesign goes beyond simplified navigation to improve personalization too. Apple added distinct user profiles on the Apple TV interface. This permits individuals to lock preferences, watch history, and “Up Next” queues. No more frustrating battles over shared watch lists or recommendations.

The app also expands Up Next with advanced filters tailoring suggestions to unique tastes. Users can prioritize movies, shows, sports, or even bingeable series for hyper-customized content curation.

Consolidating Purchases and Rentals

For transactions, Apple unified movie/TV show purchases and rentals directly inside the TV app. Previously requiring the iTunes Store, navigation stays fluid while shopping the Apple media catalogue.

By eliminating app-switching friction, sales could enjoy a subtle lift. More importantly, it demonstrates Apple’s commitment to making the TV app a centralized entertainment nerve center.

With thoughtful navigation, customization, and storefront consolidation, the new Apple TV app finally achieves its full potential. Apple may have taken inspiration from Netflix, but in execution the refreshed portal feels uniquely Apple in unifying streaming services, purchases, and suggestions.
