Amazon has announced the upcoming launch of the Echo Show 8 3rd gen, the latest addition to their lineup of Alexa-powered smart displays. Priced at $150, the Echo Show 8 features an 8-inch HD screen with edge-to-edge glass and a compact form factor designed for portable use.
The Echo Show 8 is optimized for video calling with an intelligent camera that digitally pans and zooms to keep users centered in the frame. It also has enhanced speakers and proprietary audio processing to reduce background noise during calls.
Additionally, the Echo Show 8 can detect user proximity and adjust the screen brightness and content accordingly. It is available for pre-order now and will start shipping in October.
Alongside the Echo Show 8, Amazon revealed the new generation of Echo Frames smart glasses. The redesigned Echo Frames look more like regular prescription eyewear while integrating Alexa voice control and speakers.
Battery life is improved to six hours of continuous audio playback. Users can access Alexa skills hands-free for tasks like controlling smart home devices, setting reminders, or getting news updates.
Notable features include tapping to play music, finding misplaced glasses via Alexa, and customizable lens options. The new Echo Frames start at $269.99.
With these latest Echo products, Amazon continues innovating voice-first Alexa experiences beyond traditional smart speakers. The Echo Show 8 brings new ways to interact with visual information. And the Echo Frames aim to provide Alexa convenience in a socially acceptable, wearable form factor.
