Google has officially announced its fall hardware event for Tuesday, October 4 at 10 AM Eastern Time. As widely rumored, the showcase will likely reveal the Pixel 8 / Pixel 8 Pro lineup of smartphones and the next-gen Pixel Watch 2.
Google’s invite promises the event will unveil “the latest additions to the Pixel family.” Pixel 8 series is expected to include a standard Pixel 8 along with a more premium Pixel 8 Pro model. The phones should upgrade to Google’s newest Tensor G3 chip and improved camera hardware.
Just after Google’s event date reveal, FCC filings also surfaced that all but confirm the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro names. Additional details remain scarce, but Google’s flagship phones typically launch in October.
The other major debut will likely be the Pixel Watch 2, succeeding last year’s inaugural Google-branded smartwatch. Rumors point to potential size and health tracking improvements.
In fact, a leaked promo image briefly posted on Google’s storefront offered a first look at the white ceramic Pixel 8 Pro next to a round-faced Watch 2.
As per leaks, the Pixel 8 Pro may pack a 6.7-inch QHD+ 120Hz LTPO OLED display with slim bezels. The new camera bar houses three lenses – 50MP main, 64MP telephoto, and 48MP ultrawide based on reports.

The standard Pixel 8 is tipped to get a 6.3-inch FHD+ 90Hz screen and the same primary 50MP camera as the Pro. Both models should deliver Tensor G3’s AI camera enhancements.
Overall, the Pixel 8 series aims to push Google’s phones back into premium contention after the relatively affordable Pixel 6. The focus looks to be on high-end specs, polished design, and enhanced computational photography.
Meanwhile, the Pixel Watch 2 has big shoes to fill as the sophomore attempt at Google’s first in-house Wear OS smartwatch. Expanding health sensors and fitness capabilities will be critical.
In about a month, all will be revealed at Google’s fall launch event. The new Pixel phones and watch face stiff competition, but Google’s software strengths could make them compelling Android options.
