Sony Announces PlayStation Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore and Wireless Link Tech

Alongside the reveal of the PlayStation Portal remote player device, Sony unveiled several new audio products designed for PlayStation gamers. These include the Pulse Elite headphones, Pulse Explore earbuds, and an upcoming PlayStation Link wireless audio adapter.

The new Pulse Elite wireless headphones feature retractable boom microphones and AI-powered noise cancellation. Sony says the headphones use custom planar magnetic drivers to deliver audiophile-grade lossless audio quality.

For true wireless, the new Pulse Explore earbuds also tout AI noise reduction and lossless audio support. Pricing and availability remains unannounced for the Pulse Explore.

Both the Pulse Elite and Explore will leverage Sony’s proprietary PlayStation Link wireless audio tech. This allows low-latency lossless audio directly between PlayStation devices like the Portal and PS5.

Gamers can seamlessly switch between multiple PlayStation Link hosts without disconnecting. For example, you could go from playing on your PS5 to the PlayStation Portal without re-pairing headphones.

PlayStation Link requires a separate USB wireless adapter, sold standalone, to work with PS5 consoles. Sony says it will also enable Link connectivity on PC and Mac.

The Pulse Elite headphones will retail for $149.99 when they launch later this year alongside the PlayStation Portal. For PlayStation gamers wanting lag-free, high-fidelity sound, the new audio devices look promising.

Sony continues to expand the PlayStation ecosystem with innovative accessories like the Portal and Link audio tech. We look forward to going hands-on with these new products when they become available.
