AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX Pushed to 5.2GHz, Breaks Overclocking World Records

Renowned AMD-sponsored overclocker Sampson has pushed the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX processor past 5GHz after switching to extreme water cooling, breaking several world records in the process.

Previously, Sampson had achieved an air-cooled overclock of 4.5GHz on the 64-core Threadripper Pro. Now with water cooling, he has managed to reach an astounding 5.2GHz across all cores, with power draw exceeding 1,000 watts.

At this blistering frequency, Threadripper PRO 7995WX set new world records in benchmarks like Cinebench R15, R20, R23, and 2024. It also claimed the top spot for the GPUPI high performance computing benchmark.

AMD had promoted Sampson’s initial air-cooled overclocking achievement in a Twitter post highlighting the Threadripper Pro’s capabilities. After he pushed further with water cooling, AMD tweeted again acknowledging the new records.

While not practical for real-world use, the extreme overclock demonstrates the immense headroom and potential performance of AMD’s latest Threadripper lineup. Even under normal conditions, the 7995WX offers industry-leading performance with its 64 Zen 4 cores.

For professional content creators, engineers, and data scientists, even off the shelf, these processors sit at the pinnacle for productivity and multithreaded workloads.

But Sampson’s feats prove that with exotic cooling, the Threadripper Pro can be pushed far beyond stock speeds to hyper-performance realms, fact it can run at 5.2GHz stably shows the sheer muscle and scalability built into AMD’s chips.

AMD continues providing silicon that allows extreme enthusiasts to push boundaries. While safe overclocking requires more modest approaches, the flexibility caters to aDemanding power users. With the new records, the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX showcases AMD’s engineering prowess.
