ASUS Finally Launches GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Graphics Card with M.2 SSD Expansion

Remember that wild concept graphics card ASUS teased back in July featuring an integrated M.2 slot for expandable SSD storage? Well, ASUS has gone ahead and produced it as an actual retail product now dubbed the “ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060Ti O8G-SSD.” And gamers in China can purchase one today starting at 3,459 RMB (around $500 USD).

Formally titled the “ASUS DUAL RTX 4060 Ti OC Edition 8GB GDDR6 PCI-E 4.0 M.2 SSD Graphics Card,” this RTX 4060 Ti model features a PCIe 4.0 x8 M.2 2280 slot conveniently located on the rear expansion bracket.

This lets users easily add a speedy NVMe solid state drive for extra game storage or creative project workspace. Compatibility extends to blazing fast next-gen PCIe 5.0 M.2 drives as well, SSD sits nestled under an angular shroud between the two axial cooling fans.

And speaking of cooling, ASUS implemented customized protectivecovers and heat pipe placement so airflow still effectively reaches the GPU despite the M.2 drive occupying card real estate. The two fans turn off completely below 55°C to eliminate noise when cooling isn’t needed.

While intended mostly for supplementary storage, ASUS interestingly notes you could connect a capture card or even another graphics card to the M.2 slot using a special adapter, options for expansion or capture make this one of the most versatile RTX 40 series cards for creators.

As the world’s first graphics card with integrated M.2 storage, the ASUS Dual RTX 4060 Ti proves that ambitious concepts can morph into actual products. It exemplifies the innovation possible when manufacturers like ASUS push boundaries. And while China sees initial availability, hopefully global gamers and PC builders can also enjoy its creative expansion possibilities soon.

So what cool capabilities might you leverage with the RTX 4060 Ti’s bonus M.2 slot? Let us know how you would take advantage of this bonus expansion option in your rig!
