AMD is gearing up for their CES 2024 keynote, but details on new Ryzen processors have already leaked ahead of the big event. Most notably, slides showcasing the R7 5700X3D CPU have surfaced, with the 3D V-Cache equipped chip coming in at just $249.
The R7 5700X3D will feature 8 cores, 16 threads and a total cache of 100MB, according to the leaked slides. It has a base frequency of 3.0GHz and can boost up to 4.1GHz. This is quite similar to the existing R7 5800X3D, though with a 400MHz lower clock speed. Even with the slightly reduced clocks, that huge amount of L3 cache should make the R7 5700X3D a beast for gaming.
Adding to the appeal is the price – at just $249, this new X3D chip is over $100 cheaper than the 5800X3D. AMD seems poised to bring their 3D V-Cache technology to more affordable price points. The R7 5700X3D will utilize the AM4 socket and is slated for a January 2024 launch.
Beyond the X3D, the leaks also unveiled details on a new R7 5700 CPU for $175. This model lacks the 3D V-Cache of its X3D sibling and tops out at 4.6GHz boost speeds. It also does not support PCIe 4.0 like the rest of the 5000 series.
Rounding out the leaks are two Ryzen 5000GT models packing integrated Radeon graphics: the 6-core R5 5600GT for $140 and the R5 5500GT at $125. These APUs should provide solid budget options for affordable gaming rigs.
AMD is clearly expanding their 5000 series lineup to offer more choices for varying budgets. The R7 5700X3D is especially exciting, delivering the benefits of 3D V-Cache to a much wider audience. We’ll have to wait for AMD’s CES 2024 keynote to get full details on these leaked chips, but they promise to shake up the CPU market with enhanced value.
