DJI Mic 2 Boasts Smarter Noise Cancellation and Longer Battery Life for Vloggers

DJI has just released the next generation of its popular wireless microphone system, DJI Mic 2. This upgraded model touts significant improvements like intelligent audio processing and extended battery life to enhance mobile filmmaking.

DJI Mic 2 comes in two variations – a dual channel kit with two transmitters and one receiver, and a single channel kit with one transmitter and receiver. Both kits allow content creators to capture high-quality audio wirelessly up to 250 meters away, 32-bit float internal recording.

The DJI Mic 2 comes in two kits:

  • $249 for 2 transmitters, 1 receiver, and charging case
  • $159 for 1 transmitter and 1 receiver

One of the highlight features of the DJI Mic 2 is its intelligent noise reduction. Using advanced algorithms, the microphone can effectively reduce environmental noise, allowing for clear audio capture even in noisy or windy conditions. DJI claims that when used with the included windproof fur cover, the Mic 2 can significantly cut down wind noise during outdoor shoots.

The product also introduces a useful “safety track” function. This secondary audio track is recorded at a lower -6dB level, preventing audio clipping if your main track peaks due to improper gain settings. Having a safety track gives you a backup clean recording if your main audio gets distorted.

In terms of connectivity, Mic 2 builds on the versatility of its predecessor, can connect directly to the Osmo Pocket 3 and Osmo Action 4 wirelessly over Bluetooth without a receiver module. for non-DJI cameras, just pair your phone with the transmitter then connect it to your camera via USB-C or Lightning digital output.

Battery life has been boosted up to 6 hours per charge for both the transmitter and receiver. When used with the bundled charging case, you get up to 18 hours of total runtime. The previous DJI Mic offered 15 hours max with the charging case.

The transmitter also packs 8GB of built-in storage, letting you record up to 14 hours of uncompressed 24-bit/48kHz audio as a backup. You can use the Mic 2 as a standalone audio recorder when not hooked up to your camera.

With intelligent noise reduction, extended battery life, and flexible connectivity options, DJI Mic 2 aims to be an indispensable wireless microphone for content creators and vloggers. It tackles challenging shooting environments while giving crystal clear, professional-grade audio for your videos.
