DJI Osmo Mobile 7 Gimbal Launch: Magnetic Mount & AI Tracking from £85

DJI’s latest move in the consumer tech arena has sparked anticipation ahead of its February 18 launch. DJI Osmo Mobile 7 Series smartphone gimbal stabilizers—available in Standard (£85) and Professional (£135) variants—promise to redefine handheld videography. With a magnetic mounting system, AI-driven tracking, and modular accessories, the product aims to cater to casual creators and professionals alike. Here’s how DJI’s newest offering positions itself in a competitive market.

The Osmo Mobile 7 Series introduces a magnetic mounting mechanism designed to accommodate smartphones up to 3.3 inches wide. Feature eliminates traditional clamping systems, reducing setup time while ensuring secure alignment. A built-in tripod and telescopic extension rod further enhance versatility, enabling stable shots on uneven surfaces or extended angles.

Transitioning between modes is streamlined through dedicated buttons for selfies, zoom control, and orientation shifts. Compact display on the handle provides real-time battery and connectivity updates, minimizing guesswork during shoots.

While the Standard model focuses on core functionality, the Professional variant adds granular control. A tactile zoom wheel on the handle allows manual focus adjustments, appealing to creators seeking cinematic precision. DJI’s AI tracking system leverages machine learning to maintain subject lock, even in dynamic environments.

The Professional bundle includes the DJI Mic Mini wireless microphone, addressing audio-quality demands for vloggers and interviewers. Paired with an upgraded telescopic rod, the package positions itself as an all-in-one solution for high-stakes projects.

At £85, the Standard model undercuts rivals like Zhiyun and Moza, potentially attracting entry-level users. The £135 Professional tier, however, targets semi-professionals requiring advanced tools without premium pricing. DJI’s tiered approach reflects a broader trend: democratizing pro-grade technology while maintaining margin integrity.

With the Osmo Mobile 7 Series, DJI isn’t just stabilizing smartphones—it’s stabilizing its foothold in an evolving creator economy. Will competitors adapt or falter as magnetic mounts and AI redefine expectations?
