Leaked Benchmarks Show Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 With 50% GPU Performance Jump

Exciting new Geekbench scores have surfaced potentially revealing the GPU power of Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile processor. In the Vulkan graphics test, the chip registered an impressive 15,434 points. Gizmoweek’s has post a another source Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy Benchmarks. Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy Benchmarks

This represents close to a 50% performance improvement over the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which scores around 10,000 in the same benchmark. The massive Gen 3 gains align with rumors that the new Adreno 750 GPU would deliver 50% better graphics processing versus the Adreno 740 in Gen 2.

However, some industry analysts caution that real-world results may show a smaller performance delta between the Gen 2 and Gen 3. The latest Snapdragon iteration is considered an ordinary annual upgrade. And TSMC’s mature 4nm process already extracts exceptional performance, including on the GPU side.

Regardless, the leaked benchmarks cement Qualcomm’s lead over Apple’s mobile chip GPUs. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 GPU already surpassed Apple’s A16 Bionic. Now with the Adreno 750’s significant enhancements, Qualcomm extends its graphics advantage even further.

On the CPU front, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is expected to post solid gains from architectural improvements and higher clock speeds. Rumors point to multi-core scores increasing from around 3,828 on the Gen 2 to approximately 7,000 this generation.

That would bring Qualcomm close to Apple’s A17 Bionic CPU performance. However, early benchmarks of the Galaxy S24 Plus show the Gen 3 still lags Apple in single-core at 2,005 points versus 2,958 on the iPhone 15 Pro’s A17.

In summary, the leaked benchmarks paint an exciting picture of a substantial GPU boost for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, keeping Qualcomm’s graphics leadership intact and surging near Apple’s multi-core CPU prowess.

Real-world testing will provide the full confirmation once devices utilizing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC launch later this year. But if the rumors and early benchmark leaks prove accurate, Qualcomm appears primed to start off 2023 with its most powerful and well-rounded mobile processor yet.
