Xiaomi Tops Spain’s Smartphone Market, Hits 1 Million Xiaomi Fans After 6 Years

Xiaomi marked the 6th anniversary of their expansion into Spain, from Canalys report, Xiaomi has also become Spain’s best-selling smartphone brand as of Q2 2023.

Xiaomi first entered the Spanish market in late 2017 and rapidly gained share thanks to competitive pricing, January 2018, Xiaomi had already captured 10% of Spain’s smartphone sales just two months after launch.

This momentum continued as Xiaomi doubled its market share to 20% by 2019, growth stabilized around 30% by 2022, firmly cementing Xiaomi as a top player in Spain.

Credits mid-range price phone like the Redmi Note 12 series as being a major driver of sales growth in the region last year. Xiaomi aims to maintain its #1 position in Spain through 2024 by focusing on the high-end market going forward.

Beyond raw sales figures, Xiaomi also touts having over 1 million registered users on its Spanish Mi Community app, makes Spain home to Xiaomi’s 4th largest fan community globally.

Spain’s Xiaomi fandom of over 1 million people also represents the largest in Western Europe, active user engagement underscores Xiaomi’s brand resonance in the country.

Starting from scratch in 2017, Xiaomi systematically built up its presence in Spain through strong product portfolio breadth, consumer-centric innovation, and localized operations. Meticulously customized its strategy for the Spanish market, while leveraging assets like manufacturing scale and a passionate fanbase, thoughtful expansion has paid off with leading market share within just 5 years.

For a Chinese brand to disrupt the strongholds of Apple and Samsung in Spain signifies Xiaomi’s brand strength, now aiming to maintain its sales lead while making inroads into higher-end device segments.

This milestone also comes as Xiaomi cements itself as a top 3 smartphone vendor worldwide, xiaomi’s steady growth inside and outside of China remains impressive given the market’s saturation and competition, Lei Jun confirms that Xiaomi has sold over one million units of the Xiaomi 14 series. By sticking to its playbook, Xiaomi seems poised for continued success as it celebrates its accomplishments so far.
