Huawei Mate X3 Hands on: A Thin, Light, Foldable Phone Contender

HUAWEI Mate X3 is pushing the boundaries of what foldable phones can be. So, let’s dive in and see what makes this device stand out.

Design: Slim and Sleek

The Huawei Mate X3 is breaking new ground in terms of design, With a weight of just 239g for the plain leather version, the Mate X3 is remarkably light for a foldable phone, thickness is barely more significant than a USB Type-C port, making it one of the thinnest foldable phones on the market.

As I’ve mentioned before, thickness and weight have been the main factors holding foldable phones back from becoming mainstream daily drivers, looks like Huawei has tackled both these issues with the Mate X3, setting a new standard for foldable phones.

The Mate X3’s folding screen hinge now allows for smooth hovering at any angle, enhancing the device’s usability and convenience. This means you can hold the Mate X3 comfortably with one hand, even when it’s folded. It no longer feels like you’re using a foldable phone – it just feels like a regular smartphone.

A Beast of a Foldable

Despite its ultra-thin and light design, the Huawei Mate X3 packs a punch when it comes to performance, boasts a 4800mAh battery, dual displays, 50W wireless charging, and IPX8-level waterproofing. All these features are packed into a super slim body.

Comparison: Outperforming the Galaxy Z Fold4

In many ways, Huawei Mate X3 outshines its competitor, the Galaxy Z Fold4. With its slim design, smooth folding experience, and powerful features, the Mate X3 sets a new benchmark for what foldable phones can achieve. Unfortunately, the Huawei Mate X3 isn’t available in Europe or Canada yet, and it’s unclear if it will ever reach those markets. However, many of us are eager to get our hands on this incredible piece of hardware, regardless of whether it comes with Google apps or not.
