Google Wear OS 4 coming soon with third-party apps, work on Pixel Watch 2

Google’s I/O 2023 Developers Conference was a whirlwind of innovation, with their main focus on security and the introduction of AI system customization and upgrades. Enter the world of the Android Ecosystem: foldable phones, tablets, watches, and Automotive OS. And it doesn’t stop there! Google’s got the whole shebang covered, giving screens other than phones a spot in the limelight too.

Wear OS 4, slated for release later this year, promises to revolutionize your wrist with a better suite of watch apps, improved battery management, enhanced accessibility, and text-to-speech. It’s like having a personal assistant on your arm!

Wear OS 4 is set to improve integration with Google Home, offering added control options for your connected devices. Google’s also beefing up their Workspace, Gmail, and Calendar apps—giving you the power to access to Workplace favorites, fire off quick Gmail replies, and manage events and tasks in your calendar, all from your watch.

Google’s pulling out all the stops with Wear OS 4, and they’re bringing some big names along for the ride. WhatsApp will be supported, allowing for encrypted messaging, voice replies, and on-device calling directly from your wrist. Spotify’s jumping on board with new tiles for easy access to your tunes and podcasts, while Peloton has you covered in the fitness department with continuous workout tiles on its Wear OS 4 app.

Next-gen Pixel Watch 2 first device to rock Wear OS 4, powered by W5+ Gen 1 chip, based on a 4nm process.
