DJI to Unveil Air 3 Drone and OSMO Action 4 at Product Launch Event

DJI is gearing up for an epic sequel in its lineup of aerial and action cams. The Chinese drone maker has announced a product launch event on July 25th, with the tagline “Dual cameras in position, the protagonist returns.” All signs point to refreshed versions of the company’s popular Mavic Air 3 drone and Osmo Action 4 cam stepping back into the spotlight.

The Air 3 is expected to feature DJI’s signature folding design for portability, upgraded flight performance and safety features like obstacle avoidance sensors, and a dual camera setup for capturing photos and video during flight. Leaks suggest the 4K-capable drone will have a dual-camera design will include a main camera with an equivalent focal length of 24mm and a telephoto lens with an equivalent focal length of 70mm, aperture values for these lenses are f/1.7 and f/2.8 (DJI Air 3 Drone Leaked Upgraded Dual-Camera System and Improved Battery Capacity).

DJI Air 3 Drone has already Passed FCC Certification 4241 mAh / 62.6 Wh

Osmo Action 4, with leaked specs that have action cam enthusiasts chomping at the bit. DJI seems to be positioning the Action 4 as a heavyweight contender to GoPro’s flagship Hero line.

According to @camerainsider Action 4 cam will likely pack a robust 1/1.3” CMOS sensor capable of 4K/60 fps with a 155° field of view, and stepping it up to silky smooth 4K/120 fps slow motion. 10-bit color and D-Log should enable pro-level video grading flexibility. The integrated horizon stabilization keeps footage gimbal-steady through 360° movement. And it’s all wrapped in a compact, 18-meter waterproof body weighing just 145 grams.

Last year’s Osmo Action 3 was no slouch, with 4K/120fps, 16-meter water resistance, and the RockSteady 3.0 stabilization system. But the Action 4 looks set to step up DJI’s game significantly in the action cam arena.

Judging by the leaks, creatives who capture life in motion should keep July 25th circled for DJI dual camera event.
