Google Unveils Pixel Watch 2 With Health Tracking, New Sensors, 24 Hours Battery Life

At its fall product launch event, Google officially unveiled the second generation Pixel Watch alongside new Pixel phones and other devices. The Pixel Watch 2 delivers key upgrades like advanced health tracking capabilities and a new chipset.

The flagship smartwatch features an updated rounded design with a edge-to-edge curved display. It is powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 processor, promising faster performance than the previous Exynos platform.

New health sensors enable body temperature and responsiveness tracking alongside continuous heart rate monitoring. Auto workout detection, safety features, and sleep analysis also expand the Pixel Watch’s fitness and wellness capabilities.

Ultra wideband support provides more accurate locating abilities when paired with other UWB-equipped devices like the new Pixel 8 series phones.

Google is offering the Pixel Watch 2 in Bluetooth and LTE variants, priced at $349 and $399 respectively – the same as the original model. Numerous stylish bands are available starting at $50.

While battery life remains rated at 24 hours, faster charging helps offset the moderate endurance. Despite the addition of new sensors and connectivity, efficiency remains unchanged.

With deeper Fitbit integration and a revamped rounded design, Google’s sophomore smartwatch aims to compete more effectively with the dominant Apple Watch. By focusing on health tracking and assistance features, the Pixel Watch 2 caters directly to Google’s strengths in AI and software.

But with Apple’s Series 9 also raising the bar, Google will need to stand out on more than just capabilities. The Pixel Watch 2 delivers substantive upgrades but still faces intense competition in the crowded wearable space.
