Google’s Pixel Watch 2 has leaked ahead of its expected October debut alongside the Pixel 8 phones. A leaked promotional video reveals the Pixel Watch 2’s sleek new bezel-less design, side crown, and various upgrades.
The brief clip showcases the round display extending edge-to-edge, lacking the thick bezel on the original Pixel Watch. A rotating crown now sits along the right edge for navigation and control.
Pressing the crown triggers a ripple animation for an interesting visual effect. This suggests potential haptic feedback and pressure sensing capabilities.
While keeping the same overall form, the Pixel Watch 2 gains new health sensors on the back according to leaked images. Google is also utilizing 100% recycled aluminum for the housing.
Enhanced fitness tracking features are coming thanks to Fitbit, which Google acquired, a new multi-path heart rate sensor promises more accurate monitoring during intense workouts.
Pixel Watch 2 will also gain Fitbit’s stress management system which detects body signals tied to anxiety and provides guided breathing exercises.
Other additions include pace coaching for runs and walks, a safety timer for checking in after a certain duration, and a redesigned charger. Battery life remains rated for 24 hours.
With Google expected to fully reveal the Pixel Watch 2 on October 6th alongside the Pixel 8 phones, the leaked video provides an early look at the company’s smartwatch vision.
While showcasing a familiar circular form, the Pixel Watch 2 design refinements and sensor upgrades aim to make Google’s smartwatch more competitive against the Apple Watch. We’ll know full details soon.
