Samsung has dropped the smartwatch mic with the reveal of its latest wearable lineup, the Galaxy Watch6 series. These timepieces pack some serious tech inside sleek and stylish exteriors.
The new lineup includes two models – the Galaxy Watch6 and the Galaxy Watch6 Classic. The latter brings back the iconic rotating bezel that has long been a distinctive design feature of Samsung watches. Both models come in two sizes and have LTE versions with eSIM modules for connectivity on the go.
Compared to the previous gen Watch5, the Galaxy Watch6 has seen some major glow-ups. While it misses out on the rotating bezel function, it doesn’t skimp on any other features compared to its Classic cousin. The Galaxy Watch6 is slightly smaller than before, with 44mm and 40mm options. However, thinner bezels mean slightly larger screens – 1.5″ and 1.3″ respectively. The Watch6 Classic matches these screen sizes, but brings rotating bezel bling in 47mm and 43mm cases.
Under the hood, the new Galaxy Watch6 series is packing some serious heat. Super AMOLED displays boast an eye-popping 2000 nits peak brightness and full color always-on mode. Sapphire crystal lens covers keep the screens scratch-free. An all-new Exynos W920 chipset delivers snappy performance – we’re talking 1.4GHz dual-core CPU, 2GB RAM (up 18%), and 16GB storage (up 33%).
But the biggest glow-up is undoubtedly in the software. With new skin temperature and heart rate sensors, these watches can provide unparalleled sleep insights. Samsung boasts its watches are the only ones rocking a fully integrated health suite – we’re talking ECG, heart rate and alerts, blood pressure, cycle predictions and even fall detection.
The Galaxy Watch6 series plays nice with Samsung Pay, remote camera controls and integrated mapping to find misplaced phones. Google and third-party apps are fully supported too thanks to Samsung’s WearOS integration.
Battery-wise, the Watch6 line will keep you powered on the go. Expect up to 30 hours with always-on display or 40 hours without. IP68 water resistance means you can submerge up to 50 metres while MIL-STD 810H certification brings military grade toughness.
One UI Watch 5 brings personalized morning briefings to improve sleep quality by tracking total sleep, cycles, awake time and recovery. Body composition tools measure BMI, BMR, body fat, water and bone mass. With advanced sensors like accelerometer, barometer and GPS, the Watch6 series tracks activities and workouts in granular detail.
Pricing starts at $299 for the Galaxy Watch6 and $399 for the Classic. LTE models cost extra. Both models can be preordered now ahead of an August 11 release. Preorders snag free bands and up to $250 trade-in discounts sweeten the deal.
The Galaxy Watch6 series drops the mic on smartwatch innovation. With advanced health insights, connectivity and tough rugged design, Samsung’s latest wearables have raised the bar. The rotating bezel on the Classic takes the lineup back to its roots, but thoroughly modern tech inside makes this forward-thinking wristwear.
If you’re thinking of upgrading from a previous model, the Galaxy Watch6 Classic is a stylish upgrade, with its rotating bezel and sleek design. But the Watch6 also offers many improvements, making it a worthy contender. With both models available for pre-order and set to release on August 11, the decision is yours. Before deciding whether to upgrade from my Galaxy Watch5 Pro to the new Galaxy Watch6 Classic, have to try it first. My Watch5 Pro looks a little too generic when compared to the Watch6 Classic with these bands, not to mention that I need that rotating bezel.
