Samsung Brings Native HDR Photos to Instagram with Galaxy S24’s Advanced Camera

In an exciting imaging milestone, Samsung’s new Galaxy S24 series smartphones will be the first to capture and share native HDR photos directly on Instagram. Thanks to deep optimization with Android 14, the S24’s advanced camera and SDR dimming support will make user’s Instagram content look better than ever.

With SDR dimming on the Galaxy S24, the phone can maintain bright display levels for rich HDR tone while selectively dimming standard dynamic range layers. This preserves the full dynamic range and vivid color captured by the S24 camera. Photos and videos will appear just as stunning on users’ Instagram feeds as they did on the S24 screen.

By natively processing HDR, S24 series avoids the loss of quality from converting to standard dynamic range. Shadows remain detailed, highlights stay bright, and colors pop just as they should. It’s a major upgrade of the Instagram photography experience.

Samsung’s influential status has helped drive forward the HDR ecosystem to make this possible, benefitting developers. As the first to deliver an end-to-end HDR Instagram workflow, they have lived up to their reputation as camera innovators.

HDR photography has always faced the issue of losing its enhanced dynamic range when sharing to services like Instagram. By solving this with native HDR support across capture, viewing and sharing, the Galaxy S24 series provides a game-changing photography upgrade.

With S24’s HDR optimization, any instagrammer can share professional-level photos that fully showcase the camera’s abilities. It’s a big step forward in social ecosystem development that required significant coordinated effort.

For users, it means one less barrier to capturing amazing photos that reflect reality’s full dynamic range and viewing them as intended on social media. Galaxy S24 series’ stunning camera, display and software work together to make HDR endlessly shareable.

Going forward, Ultra HDR promises even more true-to-life photography. With the iPhone 15 and others adopting it soon, native HDR support on Instagram was a crucial milestone in the development of new imaging standards. Thanks to Samsung’s pioneering implementation, social media users worldwide can share photos looking their absolute best.
