Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Specs and Features
Early Xiaomi 14 benchmarks with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 show impressive gains over prior generation mobile processors. Multicore scores surpass 7400 on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, nearing the peak performance of reference design Snapdragon chips.
CPU utilizes a 1+3+2+2 architecture with one Cortex-X4 core, three Cortex-A720 cores, and four Cortex-A520 cores. This delivers up to 30% faster CPU performance versus the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
The Adreno 750 GPU provides 25% faster graphics rendering and supports advanced features like ray tracing. Overall, the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 represents a major performance leap.
Cutting-Edge 5G, WiFi 7 and 10Gbps USB
Connectivity upgrades are also plentiful on the Snapdragon 8 Gen3. It incorporates Qualcomm’s latest X75 5G modem with blistering 10Gbps downlinks and 3.5Gbps uplink speeds. WiFi 7 support enables wireless connectivity up to 5.8Gbps.
USB 3.1 Gen 2 offers astonishing wired transfer speeds up to 10Gbps. This could enable display and peripheral connectivity similar to the iPhone’s Lightning interface.
AI and Camera Upgrades
With nearly double the AI performance of its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 powers advanced on-device AI capabilities. Camera support reaches up to 108MP sensors and 8K video recording.
Generative AI is a highlight, with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 being the first mobile chip designed specifically to run large generative models locally. This will bring new creative possibilities to mobile apps.
Flagship-Level Graphics and Displays
The Adreno 750 GPU can hit up to 240FPS gaming on QHD+ displays thanks to upgrades like Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0. Ray tracing also elevates graphics, especially in upcoming titles built on Unreal Engine 5.
Unveiling at Qualcomm Summit
With the Xiaomi 14 confirmation, excitement is building for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 unveiling at Qualcomm’s upcoming 2023 Summit on October 24 in Hawaii.
Leveraging TSMC’s cutting-edge 3nm process gives the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 an advantage over the 8+ Gen 2’s 4nm node. With impressive gains across CPU, GPU, AI, imaging, and 5G connectivity, Qualcomm’s next flagship platform looks set to power many of 2023 – 2024 premium Android devices.
