Nintendo Switch Paid Warranty Service to End Soon

Nintendo Switch owners who have been relying on the company’s paid warranty service will soon need to find alternative options. According to an official announcement from Nintendo, the service will be discontinued, and new subscriptions and renewals will no longer be accepted after August 31st. This change will not impact current subscribers who will remain covered for the remaining duration of their service period.

However, those who haven’t subscribed yet will need to act fast if they still want to take advantage of the benefits provided by the service. The paid warranty service was launched by Nintendo in July 2022 for a monthly fee of 200 yen or an annual fee of 2000 yen, and it has only been available for a year. It offered up to six repairs per year for a maximum of 100,000 yen per repair for the Nintendo Switch console and its accessories released in Japan. By subscribing to this service, customers could reduce the cost of repairs in cases of natural damage, water damage, or other types of damage.

With the discontinuation of this service, Nintendo Switch owners will need to consider other options for repair and maintenance of their devices. For those who have devices that are already out of warranty, subscribing to the paid warranty service could have been an attractive option. It provided extended coverage and a cost-effective way to repair any issues that may arise.

As of July 14th at 3:00 PM, changes to monthly and annual plans will no longer be available. So, if you’re a Nintendo Switch owner and have been considering subscribing to the paid warranty service, now may be the time to act. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to protect your device and save on costly repairs.
