Samsung is prepping its next flagship Exynos 2400 processor, power the upcoming flagship Galaxy S24 series lineup launching in 2024. After skipping an Exynos for the S23 series, Samsung will return to its dual-chip strategy and offer both the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Exynos 2400 SOC across different Galaxy S24 models.
Samsung Launches First GDDR7 Memory with 32Gbps Speed and 1.5TBps Bandwidth
The Exynos 2400 chips adopts an octa-core design comprised of 1x Cortex-X4, 2x Cortex-A720, 3x Cortex-A710, and 4x Cortex-A510 cores built on ARM latest Armv9.2 architecture.
The prime core runs at a blistering 3.1GHz for peak performance. The middle Cortex-A720 cores hit 2.9GHz for optimal efficiency under load. And the lower A710 and A510 cores tap AI and power efficiency at reduced clocks.
The shift to Armv9.2 also means the Exynos 2400 will only support more efficient 64-bit processing.
Graphics get a huge upgrade via the new Xclipse 940 GPU, packs double the graphics compute units of the RDNA 2 GPU, promises a giant performance lift for gaming and graphics.
AI capabilities also see enhancement through a dedicated AI chip, provides hardware acceleration for neural networks and machine learning algorithms.
Connectivity is bleeding edge thanks to the integrated Exynos 5300 modem, enables lightning-fast 10Gbps downloads and 3.87Gbps uploads over 5G and Wi-Fi 7, satellite connectivity is also supported.
Additional Exynos 2400 enhancements include UFS 4.0 storage, LPDDR5X RAM clocked at 8.5Gbps, 320MP camera sensor support, and 8K 60fps video recording abilities.
While Samsung hasn’t confirmed manufacturing process details, Exynos 2400 SoC will likely leverage 4nm or 3nm processing fabrication for optimal efficiency.
By pairing the advanced Exynos 2400 with a Snapdragon flagship, Galaxy S24 looks set to dominate performance charts when it launches, new Exynos design leaves little room for Qualcomm to proclaim chipset superiority.
With massive graphics and AI improvements, bleeding-edge connectivity, and next-gen ARM compute cores, the Exynos 2400 is poised to power on Galaxy S24 lineup to new heights. Samsung is clearly aiming to rectify Exynos shortcomings and reclaim the chipset performance crown next year.
