Key features include support for Tiantong satellite calls and messaging via China’s Beidou network. This provides connectivity beyond the limitations of ground-based networks.

The phone incorporates Xuanwu Kunlun glass for durability and adopts a distinctive two-stage rear camera design. Extensive straight lines give it a sharper, more angular aesthetic compared to other Mate 60 models.

Spec-wise, the Mate 60 RS is equipped with Huawei’s latest Ark Engine and includes privacy protection for calls. The base configuration matches the Mate 60 Pro+ model, with the Kirin 9000s chipset and 50MP main camera powered by Huawei’s XMAGE image signal processor.

Fast charging, 5G connectivity, and HarmonyOS complete the premium package.

Huawei emphasized the “Ultimate Design” philosophy behind the RS during the launch event, focusing on exceptional aesthetics, craftsmanship, and innovation.

To further highlight the premium appeal, Huawei announced that popular actor and singer Andy Lau will be the official brand ambassador for the high-end Mate RS sub-brand.

Pre-orders for the Mate 60 RS begin today in China, with official release coming on September 28th. Global availability has not been confirmed yet.

With its bleeding-edge satellite features, standout design, and top-tier specs in a ceramic body, the Mate 60 RS represents the apex of Huawei’s smartphone engineering capabilities. It clearly aims to compete directly against the likes of the iPhone 15 Pro Max as a no-compromise flagship.
