Suspected Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 Processor Spotted in Benchmarks, paired with an Adreno 720 GPU

A smartphone processor suspected to be the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 has appeared in Geekbench benchmarks, revealing key details about its configuration.

The leaked Snapdragon chip features 1 high-performance core clocked at 2.63 GHz, 3 cores at 2.4 GHz, and 4 efficiency cores at 1.8 GHz, paired with an Adreno 720 GPU.

Processor core configuration and testing frequency suggest the prime core is a Cortex-A715, Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 utilizes TSMC’s advanced 4nm process technology.

Compared to the previous 7 Gen 2, the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 gains the Cortex-A715 core for a performance boost. However, its max clock speed of 2.63 GHz is lower than the A710 prime core used in the 7 Gen 2.

Adreno 720 GPU is also a downgrade from the Adreno 725 found in the prior generation Snapdragon 7 chipset. But overall, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 should deliver CPU and GPU gains over its predecessor.

The Snapdragon 7 series targets advanced mid-range Android devices. The Gen 3 model will likely start appearing in upcoming smartphones from major brands like Honor.

In fact, rumor suggests the Honor 100 and 100 Pro models launching on November 23rd will be among the first to adopt the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipsets respectively.

As Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 powers the latest high-end phones, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 will bring impressive performance to more affordable devices soon.

While a step below the top-tier 8 series, Snapdragon 7 chips enable great gaming, strong AI processing, advanced photography, and 5G connectivity, 7 Gen 3 looks to be another solid offering for the important mid-range smartphone segment.

With its refined 4nm design and new Cortex-A715 prime core, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is shaping up to deliver substantial improvements over prior generations. It may not match the elite-level Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, but still packs plenty of power for the price.
