Vivo X100 and X100 Pro PPS 100w Charges Rated Specs Test with Third-Party Adapters

Vivo’s new X100 series phones boast blazing 100W PPS charging, but testing reveals intriguing performance quirks depending on the charger paired. While the X100 and X100 Pro officially support identical 20V/5A Programmable Power Supply (PPS), real-world tests uncover the X100 casually surpassing rated current limits under certain third-party adapters.

Anker’s 100W 737 charger with PD 3.1, for example, pushes the X100 to draw over 5.2A exceeding its 5A ceiling. The result? Nearly 95W power delivery outpacing official specs.

This overachieving behavior stands in contrast to the identically specced X100 Pro, which obediently caps at 5A current when using UGREEN’s 100W PB205 charger – no headroom stretching required.

Clearly Vivo permits some overhead tolerance for the X100 to opportunistically turbo boost, When a mobile power source surpasses the 100W threshold, it triggers an automatic power-off and restart. But oddly enough, full charger compatibility differs too – the Pro consistently syncs with any 100W PPS adapter, while the X100 shows pickiness in not always handshake-syncing properly.

What explains this real-world divergence between two ostensibly identical charging architectures? Likely tighter quality control and validation on the Pro SKU accounts for its strict adherence to standardized behavior.

Ultimately, those opting for the X100 Pro joyfully wattage headroom beyond marketed specs the 100w PPS charging.
