Xiaomi Redmi Dives Into PC Audio With New Computer Speaker, Pricing 199RMB ($29 USD)

Xiaomi Redmi’s inaugural desktop audio product aims to upgrade computer entertainment – Redmi Computer Speaker. As Xiaomi’s smart home ecosystem grows, Redmi looks to conquer PC sound with a four-driver design promising certified hi-fi playback.

Officially revealed in a social media poster, the Redmi Computer Speaker flaunts a cylindrical form factor bathed in matte gray. Four front-firing driver units promise room-filling sound, tailored by professional DSPs for music, movies and gaming.

RGB lighting rings the base to react and match audio content through colorful ambient illumination. Expect strobe effects synchronizing with EDM tracks or pulsating highlights accentuating intense gameplay.

Details remain scarce regarding the speaker’s size, power output or connectivity options. However pricing sits at an attainable 199RMB – approximately $29 USD. Pre-orders open December 7th through Xiaomi’s official channels.

Of course, the desktop audio market already offers various powered monitors and Bluetooth speakers. Redmi’s strong value perception and ecosystem integration could disrupt incumbent brands. And by expanding beyond smartphones and wearables, Redmi continues mirroring Xiaomi aggressive diversification into every consumer tech category.

With the Redmi Computer Speaker, budget-focused desktop users gain an all-in-one audio upgrade blending hi-fi sound, lighting flair and accessible pricing. Redmi’s burgeoning presence now stretches from mobile devices to living room entertainment – where might the sub-brand invade next?
