OPPO Find X10 Pro Max Teleconverter Review: Kingfisher Photography in Your Pocket

There’s a kingfisher that’s become something of a local legend at Forest Park. Regulars talk about it the way birders talk about a white whale, it shows up when it wants to, and no amount of patience guarantees a sighting. Back in April, I visited the park’s birdwatching area with a smartphone and a teleconverter, hoping to photograph it. I got solid shots of other species over two days. Kingfisher never appeared.

Then the weather broke this past week, and I headed out again before dawn with OPPO Find X10 Pro Max and its OTJ02 teleconverter attachment, a 3.8x optical add-on that pushes the equivalent focal length to 230mm. After nearly an hour of stillness at the water’s edge, bird finally showed up.

That moment felt like a validation of a setup that’s been quietly building a case for itself.

Find X10 Pro Max launched in September 2026 as the world’s first phone to feature three 200MP cameras, and it supports a Hasselblad Teleconverter Kit on 200MP periscope lens enabling 10x optical zoom, 20x lossless zoom, and up to 200x digital zoom. A meaningful spec sheet for anyone who’s ever tried to photograph wildlife with a phone and come away disappointed.

The OTJ02 teleconverter I used is rated at 3.8x magnification, equivalent to 230mm. With digital zoom engaged at 20x, that extends to roughly 460mm equivalent — territory that, until recently, demanded a dedicated telephoto lens and a camera body that weighs as much as a small carry-on.

Telephoto camera on Find X10 Pro Max uses a 1/1.56-inch large sensor with a 200MP resolution and an f/2.1 aperture, which means it captures ample light even in challenging conditions. That matters in a forest at dawn, where the canopy filters out most of what you’d want.

Here’s what the kingfisher moment actually revealed about this setup: it works, but it asks something of you in return.

Even at 460mm equivalent with 20x digital zoom, feather-level detail, kind where you can pick out individual barbs, stayed just out of reach. That’s an honest limitation, and it’s worth stating plainly. Anyone expecting to replicate what a 600mm prime lens on a full-frame sensor delivers will be disappointed.

What this setup does deliver is more than sufficient for social media posting, editorial-quality web images, and personal documentation. Kingfisher shots came out sharp, well-exposed, and genuinely usable. Surrounding photographers, most carrying dedicated telephoto rigs with serious reach leaned over, looked at the screen, and nodded.

OPPO Find X10 Pro Max with OTJ02 isn’t just a bird photography tool, either. Switching from the water’s edge to the forest trail, the teleconverter handled macro-adjacent work surprisingly well, close-up detail on wildflowers, insects perched on bark, the vein structure of large leaves. That kind of versatility across subject matter is what makes the case for this pairing outside of dedicated birding outings.

There’s a practical conversation happening right now among photographers who travel light. OPPO has partnered with Hasselblad again for image processing, and a new Hasselblad Teleconverter set arrives alongside Find X10 Pro Max. Combined weight of the phone and teleconverter is a fraction of what a traditional telephoto kit demands. On a morning where you’re covering ground on foot, that difference compounds.

For birding outings where a full telephoto setup isn’t practical, or where you’d rather not dedicate an entire bag to camera gear, OPPO Find X10 Pro Max and OTJ02 teleconverter combination presents a commercially compelling argument. It won’t replace a 500mm prime. It doesn’t try to.

What it does is put quality reach in a jacket pocket, ready when a kingfisher decides to finally show its face.

Turns out, good things come to those who wait, those who packed the right Find. Find X10 Pro Max and OTJ02 teleconverter (3.8x, 230mm equivalent), available now at NextBuying.
