Redmi Watch 4 Upgrades to Aluminum and Steel with Beefier Battery

Redmi Watch 4 fitness tracker arrives with compelling upgrades both aesthetic and practical. Moving past its budget-friendly predecessor, aluminum and stainless steel construction lend durability and refinement while an expanded 470mAh battery stretches usage to a claimed 20 days between charges. A crisp 1.97-inch AMOLED panel sharpens the display as well for better legibility on the go.

Where the earlier Redmi Watch cut material costs with a polymer body, the Watch 4 instead utilizes forged aluminum for its frame along with an etched stainless steel rotary crown. This boosts structural rigidity while conveying a sense of value through the cold premium touch of metal. Fitted bands also swap to a quick-release mechanism for easier customization.

Befitting its fitness focus, the Watch 4 tightly integrates with Xiaomi’s broader ecosystem to sync health metrics and exercise data with smartphones and other connected products.Location tracking, music playback controls, and NFC payments also help liberate phones from pockets without sacrificing features.

On the software side, the latest HyperOS tailored for wearables aims for smoother operation and refined interfaces optimized around glanceable circular displays. This matches neatly with the 1.97-inch AMOLED panel doubling resolution over its predecessor for better readability.

Extensive fitness tracking sees an upgrade as well via a new 4-channel optical sensor improving heart rate monitoring accuracy while adding blood oxygen surveillance alongside staples like sleep and women’s health logging. Over 150 workout modes help users stay motivated through customized tracking.

Priced around $70, the Watch 4 brings Redmi’s wallet-friendly wearables squarely into premium construction typically reserved for costlier rivals. Combined with the extended battery life and sharp display granting outdoor visibility, it makes a compelling Android companion for active consumers or an affordable holiday gift. While corners inevitably get cut at this price, the metal and glass boost perceivable value above its pay grade.
