Xiaomi Phones Get WiFi 7 Upgrades for Faster Speeds, Xiaomi 14 and 13 series, Mix Fold 3, and Redmi Models

Xiaomi recently revealed numerous phones in line for WiFi 7 firmware updates, including the Xiaomi 14 lineup, Xiaomi 13 series, Mix Fold 3, and Redmi K60, K70 and Pro models. Touting multiplied connection speeds and lower latency, how might the next-gen wireless standard transform real-world usage?

Specifically, WiFi 7 theoretically enables up to 4.8 times faster speeds than WiFi 6, and over 13 times faster than WiFi 5. Additional frequency bands and improved encoding expand overall bandwidth and throughput too.

For consumers, this means ultra-responsive internet with minimal lag when gaming, streaming high-res video or participating in VR meetings across multiple devices. Homes could also run multiple 8K streams flawlessly while smart appliances self-coordinate in the background.

However, realizing WiFi 7’s potential requires compatible routers like Xiaomi’s 10 Gigabit Router and BE7000 model, and Router BE6500 Pro, both now receiving firmware updates. Phones and laptops must contain compatible WiFi 7 chipsets too, which Xiaomi is sequentially rolling out via OTA updates.

Still, inconsistent device support may inhibit widespread WiFi 7 adoption near-term. And without compatible infrastructure, its game-changing latency and speeds risk being capped by older network technology.

Nonetheless, Xiaomi’s efforts here help demonstrate and drive the standard’s possibilities. With firms like Qualcomm unveiling WiFi 7 silicon, devices capturing the technology’s gains may one day become ubiquitous.

For now, enthusiasts eager to tap WiFi 7 must ensure phones, computers and routers all align to leverage faster file transfers and streaming. But in time, even basic online activities could feel infinitely more responsive.
